Current Research
Major federal initiatives and global changes in climate has led to a demand for advanced technologies for more sustainable and lower carbon footprint beef production systems. Our project aims to use transcriptomics and functional genomics and identify genetic markers and host-rumen microbiome traits that can be incorporated into breeding strategies. This work will lead to advanced genomic technologies that will help producers apply more sustainable and lower carbon footprint production systems, while maintaining production efficiency, profitability, while continuing to produce a high quality beef product.
